Treworra Barton, Davidstow
Davidstow is typical of a number of places in Cornwall.
Its development over the years was based on being a collection of farms with a generally common purpose.
The decline of the small farm and the mechanisation of farming have resulted in a drift away from the land. Indeed the local population is now not enough to fill Davidstow’s large church.
Whilst the farming continues, a significant proportion of the local people are now no longer reliant on the land and farming.
Treworra Barton was one of the main farms in Davidstow with over 200 acres and Commoners Rights on Bodmin Moor.
Over the years most of the land has been sold and Treworra Barton now has only 20 acres and is a complex of farm buildings, which have developed over the years from the original sixteenth century farmhouse.
The whole complex is a Grade II listed building with some obvious unusual features.
