Parking: Morwenstow: follow signposted road from the A39 about 2 ½ miles (4.4km) north of Kilkhampton. Small free car par by Morwenstow church and Rectory Farm Tearooms.
A walk in the footsteps of the eccentric Victorian Poet, Reverend Robert Hawker.
- Follow signposted track from car park to coast path; turn L. Reach Hawker's Hut in about 100 yds (91m). Continue along coast to Duckpool.
- Reach inlet of Duckpool, walk up road along bottom of valley to T-junction. Turn L at junction, go R to cross bridge beside ford. Follow lane L for 150 yds (137m), then bear L on broad track through woodland.
- Cross stile on L, cross wooden footbridge, climb slope, then turn R and up track. Turn L at T-Junction; keep ahead at next junction. Shortly go R through metal gate.
- Follow field track to surfaced lane at Woodford. Turn L and go downhill past Shears Farm the R and uphill to junction with road. Turn L past bus shelter.
- Turn L along path between cottages to kissing gate. Turn R then immediately L and follow field edge to stile on L. Cross stile, then next field, bearing slightly L, to reach hedge on opposite side.
- Cross 2 stiles; go straight up next field (often muddy) to hedge corner. Go alongside wall to hedged track and on to junction with surfaced lane.
- Go through gate opposite; turn R through gap. Go L to stile, L across next field to far L-H corner, then up to Stanbury House. Turn R to surfaced lane.
- Go L along lane then over narrow stile on R. Go straight across next 2 fields to stile and gate into farm lane behind Tonacombe House.
- Go R then bear off L along muddy track. Cross 2 fields; descend into wooded valley. Keep R, cross stream, then go R and p to stile (steep).
- Cross over fields to meadow behind Bush Inn. Go down L side of buildings, then up to road. Turn L for Morwenstow Church and car park.
